Questions

Everything people ask before they book

How long does a job take?

A typical two-bedroom-and-hall interior takes a week, Monday to Friday. Exteriors run longer and depend on the weather. Your estimate gives the days for your house; the dates are not a promise.

What is in the written estimate?

Each surface, the repairs, the number of coats, the products and sheens, the colors, cleanup, the schedule, the payment schedule and the warranty terms.

What isn't in it?

Repairs found once old paint comes off, extra colors and work you add later. We stop, show you and agree in writing before any of it.

Do I have to leave the house?

No. We cover floors and furniture and keep a path clear. You pick which rooms are off limits.

My house was built before 1978. Does that change anything?

Yes. EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule applies to paid work that disturbs paint in homes and child-occupied buildings built before 1978. Tell us the year; our firm number is in the footer.

How many coats and what sheen?

Two coats of color after primer on patches and bare spots. The estimate names the product line and the sheen for each surface.

Who buys the paint?

We do. Ask for the product data sheet and we send it.

What about weather and drying time?

Interiors don't wait on weather. Exteriors do, and the days move if it rains or turns cold. We text you the change before anyone arrives.

What does prep include, and what costs extra?

Sanding, caulking, patching and spot-priming are in. Plaster rebuilds, rotted wood and wallpaper removal are written up separately.

How do you protect floors and furniture?

Paper and drop cloths on floors, wrap on furniture, tape on edges and vents. Shoes stay on, and floors are cleaned on Friday.

Do you paint cabinets?

Yes. Doors and drawer fronts go to the shop to be sprayed, and the frames are painted on site.

What about a deposit?

A deposit comes before materials, with payments at the stages in your estimate.

What does the warranty cover?

Peeling and blistering from our workmanship. Terms, limits and exclusions are in your written warranty.

Can you help with color?

Yes. Lindsay paints test patches on your own walls at the walk-through.
